HP5 @ 1600 in DD-X is quite nice. Still, my first choice would be to push HP5 in XTOL, which will give you better shadows (but more grain). Since you're shooting 4x5, I don't think grain is too much of a concern. I've never used Microphen, though I imagine the results would be somewhere between DD-X and XTOL.

I often push HP5 to 1600 and 3200 in Ilford LC29 developer, and usually get pretty good results. However, I am not making prints-- just scanning the negatives. I don't know how well these would print in the old-fashioned way. For pushing to 1600, I use dilution 1:19 for 14 minutes, 20C. For 3200, dilution 1:9 for 11.5 - 12.5 minutes.
